Why Your Village Matters

I made a mistake.

A really simple, minor one.

Yesterday, I sent an email to 70 people referencing a graphic, in said email, that they couldn’t see. I saw it before hitting send, but Gmail wouldn’t let me be great. 🫣

Do y’all know my inner perfectionist nearly LOST HER MIND! 😩 I mean, I actually started to well up and berate myself. “See!!!This is why…”😤 My goodness was it dramatic. But a few kind words from my sister and a close friend reeled me in.

How many of us stop before we even begin to try because of a minor setback? How many of our inner voices are so hyper critical that they take us out before any outside criticism even gets close? The antidote? 🧪Surround yourself with good people, solid friends, encouraging family. My dear friend said just last night, “…We want to see you win so you have us rooting for you anyway. No hiccup could change that!”

That was all I needed to brush myself off, tune out the negative self-talk and move forward. Our community is what sustains us and keeps us going. Don’t think for a second that going it alone is wise. While most know the adage that VILLAGES raise kids, I submit that they also raise adult Entrepreneurs, Visionaries, Change-makers and Disruptors!

Tighten up your village, be the voice that talks that brilliant mind off the ledge, and surround yourself with folks who bring good news, kind words and unwavering support. THAT’S the antidote.🧪🪄✨
